The
Honourable Michelle Bachelot
Iran’s Regime Human Rights Violations and
Terrorist Activities
Honourable High Commissioner,
Together FAAVM and the Stes de
Necker Foundation represent well over 3 million members from across the globe,
with the common objective to make apply our various multifunctional civil
rights programs to help and improve the quality of life of any and all of these
disadvantaged communities worldwide.
According to reports by the UN and Amnesty International,
gross violations of human rights in Iran continue unabatedly.
We are deeply concerned about human rights situation in
Iran.
On 6 August 2018, UN Secretary-General in a report on
Iran (A/73/299) stated:
“....following increasing widespread protests the human rights
situation has been marked by an intensified crackdown on protesters,
journalists and social media users…
The application of the
death penalty, including for juvenile offenders, has continued at a high rate…
Reports of torture,
arbitrary detention and trials that failed to adhere to international standards
have been received, as has information on persistent discrimination against
women and girls, as well as members of minority groups.”
Iran has the highest number of State sanctioned
executions per capita in the world.
Thus far during 2018, at least fifteen detainees have
been killed under torture while in custody.
We are also deeply concerned about the recent terrorist
plot in Paris against the gathering of the Iranian opposition on 30 June 2018.
Assdollah Assadi, a mullahs’ regime diplomat based in
Vienna, has been charged in Belgium in connection with the terrorist plot and
charged in Germany, where arrested, and charged with “activity as a foreign
agent and conspiracy to commit murder”.
The mullah’s regime diplomat is said to have provided a
device containing 500 grams of the explosive TATP for the terrorist plot
against the Iranian opposition gathering.
Furthermore, according to the Prime Minister of Albania,
and a recent US State Department report, there was a similar terrorist plot in
Albania against the PMOI/MEK in March 2018, where Maryam Rajavi, President
elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran was attending a New Year
celebration, which was thankfully foiled.
In another foiled attempt, according to US Justice
Department two agents of the Iranian regime were arrested in the US in August
2018 charged with spying on members and supporters of the PMOI.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms the Iranian
regime for its terrorist activities in Europe and other parts of the world and
misuse of its diplomatic privileges to facilitate and cover up such malign
activities.
In addition, we believe necessary measures include the
prosecution of Iranian intelligence officers and other operatives, operating
under diplomatic cover, for crimes against humanity and the concerted action
against all of their agents, operating under the pretext of refugees or former
associates of the Iranian opposition.
Coinciding with the escalation in recent weeks of
arbitrary executions in Iran, revelations of new details on the massacre of
30,000 political prisoners in 1988 have shocked the World.
The United Nations is well aware of the 33,700 political prisoners that were executed in the
massacre carried out on Khomeini's orders in July 1988. Please see
Your intervention and assistance of the entire United
Nations and the United States Government in this matter, is requested as a
matter of great urgency.
The time to act and to restore a
democratic and free Iran, free from the shackles of an oppressive and draconic
theocratic government, is NOW.
While U.S. policymakers and lawmakers are focused
on Iran’s nuclear threat, the clerical regime continues to pose other serious
challenges to America’s national security interests and core values worldwide.
Kindest Regards
